Ultimately, these changes will enable the District to better serve its families and the community. Learn more about the plan, costs, and timeline . Substitutes must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education. Spotlight Leadership Changes at District 63 Posted by Janet Bishop on 6/5/2020 7:00:00 AM At its meeting on June 4, the District 63 Board of Education approved the appointment of Jennifer Pacheco as the District’s new Director of Special Services, Angela Maki as the new Principal of Melzer Elementary, and Stephan Henning as the new Assistant Principal at Apollo Elementary. All appointments take effect July 1. Ms. Pacheco has been Melzer’s Principal since 2016 – but she was no stranger to D63 even then, having previously served in several capacities here from 2006-2014 first as a special education resource teacher at Apollo and ultimatly served as a District special education facilitator before spending two years as Associate Principal at Maywood/Melrose Park/Broadview School District 89’s Stevenson Middle School. Mrs. Maki joined D63 as Apollo Assistant Principal in 2017, coming to the District from Wauconda Community Unit School District 118, where she served as Assistant Principal for Robert Crown Elementary for five years. Previous experience includes teaching 3rd grade in District 118. Mr. Henning currently serves as a 7th grade social studies teacher at Boulan Park Middle School, part of Michigan's Troy School District where he has also taught 4th grade. Pervioius experience includes teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels in Michigan and Beloit, Wisconsin.
